The Wandering Ogres, Leslie and Adam, are a pair of thirty-something adventurers celebrating their first retirement. After meeting during their senior year of college at Notre Dame, they spent nine years working and living in Chicago. While there, they spent as much time as they could enjoying sports, outdoor activities, beach volleyball, traveling, adventuring, and enjoying good food and beers with fantastic friends and family.
In early 2015, they decided to embark on their biggest adventure ever. After leaving their respective jobs, they took off in their tiny 2003 Mazda with their mountain bikes on the back. They are adventuring and camping, visiting National Parks and other natural wonders, drinking local brews and eating great food whenever possible, and hanging out with new and old friends.
Leslie is the planner and organizer of the pair, and spends a lot of quality time with park guides, Rand McNally and google maps. Nearly completely lacking in short term memory, she’s often seen taking notes or taking a picture of something. Her favorite thing in the car so far is her long underwear, because they are oh-so-fashionable, and it gets cold at night.
Adam is the figure-it-out-as-he-goes type. He helps keep our challenges in perspective when things don’t go exactly according to our loosely defined plan. His favorite piece of camping gear is a 30 year old Coleman stove, handed down from his parents, for whipping up culinary masterpieces. His go to dinner is meat cooked in diced tomatoes served over a starch.
If you have any suggestions, comments, questions, or burning thoughts, please send them to Leslie here.
